Baby Boomers and Blood Donation
The American Red Cross is putting out the word to Baby Boomers: PLEASE DONATE BLOOD! The need is imperative because so many people in the generation before us are using up blood supplies. “The older adults, those from that World War II generation, have always been there for us, but we are losing so many of them,” said Pam Shaffer of the Red Cross. “Another factor is that so many from that generation are now becoming users (of blood reserves), and if you receive blood, you have to wait a year to again be a donor.”
Although this is a local story in a newspaper (that I linked to below), this is a National problem. Please take the time to go give blood. When you need it, you will understand the urgency.
