Anemia
A study published in the September 2006 issue of seems to indicate that anemia may impair thinking in older adults.

Anemia is a lower than normal number of red blood cells in the blood, usually measured by a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the red pigment in red blood cells that transports oxygen.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins administered psychological tests to 364 women aged 70 to 80. The tests measure executive function. They found that of the lowest scores, 15% of them belonged to women who were anemic.
